On March 5, the Weatherford Christian School Lions and Lady Lions received district and state honors.

For the Lady Lions, all seven players were recognized with district honors.

“It was a privilege to honor the girls,” said Coach Debby Steensma. “From the beginning of the year, the team has come so far. They all put in so much effort and work this season. These awards speak highly of them. For Ashleigh, I am proud that she was able to end the season on a positive note.”

The Lions were represented by four of its players. Senior Patrick Binzer led the way earning 1st team All-District honors and receiving a spot for 2nd team All-State.

Sophomore Austin Wheeling and Cooper Bomar each received 2nd team All-District honors. Junior Abraham Hernandez was recognized with honorable mention All-District.

“It is always an honor to have the boys recognized,” said Coach Jim Steensma. “Patrick did a good job of being a team player. Cooper and Austin improved with each game. Abraham played very physical defense.”
