The Aledo Racquet Cats continued their run through District 6-5A with a 17-2 rout of Boswell recently.
The Racquets (4-1 overall) improved to 4-0 in district. They were playing at unbeaten Northwest at press time in a match that could district championship implications.
Aledo has won 10 consecutive district championships.
Against Boswell, Aledo swept all doubles matches to hold a commanding 7-0 advantage entering singles play.
Posting girls doubles wins were Nikki Adamie/Erin Davis (8-0), Priscilla Schimming/Allison Dale (8-0) and Carly Siddons/Taryn Fambrough (8-3). Also winning in boys doubles were Alec Meendsen/Lance McClure (8-3), Jared Kelm/Miles Grubbs (8-0) and Ben Colvin/James Young (8-3). The mixed doubles pairing of Trey Fambrough/Claire Stagner (8-6) posted a win as well.
The Aledo boys and girls were also dominant, each winning five of six matches.
Girls singles wins came from Adamie (6-0, 6-0), Schimming (6-3, 6-3), Davis (6-1, 6-0), Siddons (6-0, 6-2), and Taryn Fambrough (6-0, 6-3.).
Boys singles wins were by Kelm (6-3, 6-0), McClure (6-1, 6-1), Grubbs (6-2, 6-0), Fambrough (8-1), and Young (8-1).
AREA RODEO COMPETITORS OFF TO STRONG START
Several competitors from the area had good showings at the Northwest No. 1 Rodeo recently to begin the 2015-16 North Texas High School Rodeo Association season.
Aledo's Kaitlyn Kasterke has taken the early lead in the Rookie Cowgirl standings with 86 points. She scored 49 points by placing fourth in ride-up goat tying and added 37 by taking sixth in pole bending.
Kasterke is also ninth in the All-Around Cowgirl standings. Magie Pytlik of Weatherford is sixth with 98 points, and Aledo's Kaelee Brown is 10th with 84 points.
Pytlik placed fourth in barrel racing (49) and fourth pole bending (49).Brown took second in pole bending (65) and ninth in ride-up goat tying (19).
Luke Williams of Brock placed third in team roping-heading (57 points) and Jessa Reed of Peaster was fourth (49) in breakaway roping.
This year's Weatherford High School homecoming will include a fun run for the first time. The inaugural Homecoming Hop is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24 at 8 a.m. The 5K and 1-mile run will begin at 8 a.m. at Gene Voyles Park in Hudson Oaks.
All proceeds will benefit the projects of the Weatherford High School Class of 2017.

CLARK GARDENS HALF-MARATHON
The Clark Gardens I'm Only Half Crazy Half Marathon/5K is slated for Saturday, Oct. 1. The race's course will include Lake Mineral Wells State Park and the Vietnam War Museum. Tate's Total Training will provide a pre-race warmup session, and Wholistic Body Solutions will give runners massages. Last Band Standing will provide musical engertainment.

WEATHERFORD COLLEGE FOUNDATION GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 16th Annual Weatherford College Foundation Golf Tournament will be held Thursday, Oct. 20 at Canyon West Golf Club. Registration and lunch is at noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
Entry fee is $85 per person or $325 for a four-person team. This includes lunch, green fees, cart, a gift, and a hamburger dinner cooked by the WC campus police.
Players can also purchase a mulligan package with two mulligans and two raffle tickets for items such as sporting goods, electronics, restaurant certificates, and more.

BROCK HOOPS GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 2016 Brock Hoops Golf Scramble is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 30 at Canyon West Golf Course. The four-person, best-ball scramble will feature a 10 a.m. shotgun start. Check-in and registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Entry fee is $400 per team and includes range ball, cart fee, lunch and a goodie bag. Mulligans are available for three for $5, with a maximum of 12 per team.
Hole sponsorships are also available for $250. There will also be contests for closes to the pin, longest drive, a 50/50 hole, and a putting contest.
Funds raised will be used toward locker room renovations, basketball equipment and equipment storage for the Brock boys and girls basketball programs for grades 7-12.
