I want to thank our students, parents and staff for your cooperation and support these past few days. We have tried to provide you with timely information because we know school closings may cause problems for families.
The following factors are considered when we make a decision that alters the normal school schedule:
• Information on road conditions and whether buses/cars can safely travel;
• The existing accumulation of snow or ice;
• The rate and expected duration of precipitation;
• Parking lot and sidewalk conditions;
• Weather predictions.
Your safety will always be our top priority when we are faced with decisions about school closings due to weather.
The ice storm [earlier this month] was more severe than anticipated and created unsafe travel conditions that resulted in Weatherford ISD closing for four days. With these closings, we will now use our bad weather makeup dates of June 2- 3, 2014. Our school closings this week will not affect the graduation date for Weatherford High School.
Weatherford ISD will apply for a waiver from the Texas Education Agency to excuse days missed beyond our scheduled bad weather days.
Campuses are now in the process of adjusting exam schedules or student performances, as needed. Parents will be notified of any changes at their child’s campus. We appreciate your patience as we work through any issues that result from our closings.
We look forward to resuming our regular school schedule and are hoping for a mild winter.
