I am respectfully announcing my candidacy for the Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3 in Parker County and asking you for your support. The office of Justice of the Peace has the unique opportunity to directly influence how citizens view their community by giving them the experience of being treated fairly and with respect. As Justice of the Peace, I will bring a unique skill set to the position. This includes 27 years of law enforcement experience, primarily in criminal investigations. I have had the opportunity to work closely with legal advisors addressing search, seizure and arrest warrant policies. I have also had the opportunity to work with citizens in joint partnerships to address both criminal and quality of life issues within individual communities. I feel I have the knowledge and skills to provide quality service to Parker County’ citizens, community stakeholders and law enforcement promoting an atmosphere of trust and partnership.
In January 2012, I made a decision to retire from the Arlington Police Department. This is after advancing within my career to the position of police lieutenant and commander over Arlington’s narcotics and organized crime division. My wife, Susan, also retired as an Arlington lieutenant, and we successfully raised five children and now are looking forward to the arrival of our eighth grandchild. We both grew up in rural North Texas communities and found southwest Parker County the perfect place away from the chaotic challenges of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
After graduating high school in 1974, I joined the U.S. Navy serving as an aircraft mechanic aboard the USS Coral Sea. With an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, I then worked seven years as an aircraft assembler with General Dynamics before joining the Arlington Police Department in 1985. I faithfully served as a Texas Peace Officer for 27 years. During the last five years, as commander for the narcotics and organized crime division I supervised up to 35 employees and had oversight of a budget exceeding a million dollars. I also served as the Southeast Commander for the Tarrant County Narcotics Unit, Chairperson for the Arlington Nuisance Abatement Team, and worked closely with federal, state, county and municipal authorities executing operations and developing policy for future generations.
My education includes Tarrant County College and the University of Texas - Arlington, graduating with a degree in Business Administration in 2001. I am also a graduate of the Bill Blackwood Texas Leadership Command College at Sam Houston University. I have had a long-standing membership with the Center of Law Enforcement Ethics and earned a reputation for upholding a strong ethical mindset as an officer and a member of my community.
Never miss a local story.
I strongly believe officials serving as Justice of the Peace are providing a very important service within our communities and make some of the most personal decisions related to our day-to-day lives. The selection for these officials is one of the biggest decisions we will make during this election process. I believe the citizens of Parker County deserve a Justice of the Peace who will be committed to the preservation of our constitution and the preservation of our individual dignity. I have a strong passion for this office and I am asking you for your support and for your vote for their next Justice of the Peace of Precinct 3.
My goal is to the be your next Justice of the Peace for Precinct 3. If you have any questions on the issues related to this office or my experience to take on the very important role, please contact me.
