For a second year in a row, the Weatherford Independent School District will lower its tax rate another penny.
In a work session prior to their board meeting Thursday, trustees and other staff received information on the budget and the new tax rate from Tracy Ray, assistant superintendent of business and operations.
From 2010 to 2013, the total tax rate sat at $1.40. When determining the 2014 budget a year ago they lowered one cent to $1.39.
The board unanimously agreed once more to lower it to a total of $1.38, with $1.17 of it going toward business and operations and the remainder for the interest and sinking portion.
Never miss a local story.
Ray said the staff is pleased that the ISD continues to have a budget so well-balanced and in such good financial circumstance to be able to lower the tax rate.
