The Parker County Crime Stoppers has issued the following Crime of the Week and needs your help in solving this crime.
Early Friday morning and then again later Friday night, Weatherford Police officers responded to the northwest side of town in regards to three different residences who reported the American flags they had displayed outside of their homes were removed and burned by unknown suspects.
The Weatherford Police Department, in conjunction with Fire Marshall Bob Hopkins, will be investigating these incidents as Arson. The areas that were struck were the 1200 block of West Ball Street (two residences) and the 1000 block of West Spring Street (one residence). Investigators believe the incidents occurred sometime overnight between Thursday and Friday.
“Not only is the setting fire to these flags dangerous during drought conditions,” stated Sgt Wendy Field, “but it is very upsetting to the victims who are proud to display their support for America and our troops overseas.
“One victim stated she proudly displayed the American flag to support two of her sons currently serving in Afghanistan.”
The Weatherford Police Department encourages anyone who may have information on these crimes or saw any suspicious persons or vehicles in the area at the time of the crimes to contact the department (817-598-4345) or CrimeStoppers immediately.
Up to a $1,000 reward will be paid for this information and you may remain anonymous.
