Es ist ein neues Gesicht in der Stadt.
For those of you who are a little rusty with your German, that translates into “there’s a new kid in town,” particularly as it relates to automotive sales in Parker County.
For more than 20 years if you wanted to purchase a Volkswagen vehicle, you had to leave the confines of the county. But no more as Charlie Gilchrist has just opened Volkswagen of Weatherford.
“Volkswagen is expanding and this was a good opportunity for us to pick up the franchise,” Gilchrist said. “This is a great area for Volkswagen.”
The dealership is located where Gilchrist’s Mitsubishi franchise was located - which is on 5 acres - and will hold more than 100 new Volkswagen cars to choose from.
“Of course it’s a German vehicle and it has a great diesel engine,” Gilchrist added.
He said over the years, Volkswagen has created “quite a stir” with its advertising and marketing campaign to the extent that people have become “very attached” to their Volkswagen cars.
“People who have purchased Volkswagen in the past are very attached to their cars and have become very loyal to the brand,” Gilchrist said. “We’re very excited about this.”
He said that over the next several months, the dealership facility will undergo a makeover and that the Mitsubishi dealership will be moved next to their pre-owned building.
“We think this will be a great fit for Parker County,” Gilchrist said. “
He added that the new dealership has certified Volkswagen technicians and encourages customers to stop in for a visit their new location at 2951 Fort Worth Highway.
Gilchrist is the owner of Southwest Auto Group which also sells Ford, Nissan and Mitsubishi.
