No, you're not looking at the calendar wrong, and the annual event in Aledo hasn't changed its name.
However thanks to Mother Nature, the Aledo First Friday will be held on a fourth Friday this year. Inclement weather forced the rescheduling of the event to June 23 from 6-9 p.m.
The annual Fireworks Extravanganza moved with the event and will follow the evening's activities in downtown Aledo.
"I am pleased we were able to move this to another date with all the fun we had originally planned," Aledo Mayor Kit Marshall said.
First Friday signifies the beginning of summer in Aledo. It will feature plenty of free, fun things to do for families, including:
▪ A classic car show presented by Parker County Cruisers.
▪ Mini-train rides.
▪ Face painting.
▪ Archery Tag by Fort Grard Guns and Archery.
▪ A photo booth by Casa de Crazy.
▪ An inflatable obstacle course for the older kids, a bounce house obstacle course for the younger kids.
▪ Crafts for the kids by Doodles Art Studio.
▪ A sidewalk chalk zone.
▪ Carnival games by TWFG Insurance.
▪ A dunk booth by Shane Davison State Farm.
▪ A petting zoo.
In addition, music will be provided by local favorite Sophie Clark and the Southern Heritage Band.
"We’ll also have over 30 business and craft vendors from which to visit and shop, and food for purchase from several vendors, plus free hot dogs from First Financial Bank, popcorn by Bobby Rigues State Farm, and cotton candy at the City of Aledo’s booth," said Community Event Planner Toni Fisher.
This is an annual summer event hosted by the Aledo Economic Development Corporation and the City of Aledo. The fireworks show is made possible with the help of sponsorships from area businesses.
"We hope to see everyone out to kick off the summer, and having a great time," Fisher said.
