The City of Weatherford Parks, Recreation and Special Events Department are hard at work organizing Holiday in the Park at Heritage Park.
The third annual event, on Friday, Dec. 9, will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 10 p.m., located at 317 Santa Fe Dr. Activities will include snow tubing hill with snow play area, carriage rides and bounce houses. Special appearances will also be made by Santa and other holiday characters for photo ops. Other activities will include ice skating, petting zoo and other great attractions. Food trucks and holiday music will also be present for the public to enjoy.
"Holiday in the Park is a great event entering its third year," said Shannon Goodman, Director of Parks, Recreation and Special Events. "Last year we had a great crowd and we have added some new features this year while including activities we offered last year. I feel that this event is becoming a new tradition for the City of Weatherford and we are proud to offer this free event to the public."
Holiday in the Park was created by the Parks, Recreation and Special Events department three years ago in an effort to bring new winter entertainment for the public. The event caters to all ages with a family friendly environment offering a safe place to have fun during the holiday season. New entertainment features are also being added this year in anticipation of a larger crowd.
"We are really excited about our third year of hosting Holiday in the Park and are excited to have the help of businesses and volunteers to help make this event successful," said Special Events Coordinator Michael Howard. "The event has been a huge success and we are making small changes to make the event even more memorable. Making wonderful family memories in Weatherford is what we hope everyone will get from the event."
Off-site parking will be made available at Weatherford College to provide more parking spaces, located at 225 College Park Drive. Shuttle services will be free of charge to the public. Limited on-site parking at Heritage Park will also be available on a first come, first serve basis. The public is encouraged to take direction from parking staff upon arrival and obey all traffic laws.
Admission to Holiday in the Park at Heritage Park is free to the public. For more information about the event, contact Special Events Coordinator Michael Howard at 817-598-4034 or visit www.weatherfordtx.gov/holidayinthepark.
