Back-to-school means back to basics for Aledo ISD kindergarten teachers. Representatives from each of the district’s four elementary schools met to discuss the goals of the Scope and Sequence strategy used at all levels throughout the district. This particular session focused on learning new math curriculum.
“Meeting together like this ensures we are all in alignment with what the Texas Education Agency expects of us with regard to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills,” said Stuard Elementary teacher Sunshine Barry. “The result is that all Aledo kindergarten teachers are teaching to meet state and student expectations.”
Vandagriff Elementary teacher Joy Powell added that using Scope and Sequence is also helpful for new teachers to the district.
“Following the outline, we develop shows them which math skills are taught at specific points of the school year,” she said.” The alignment also ensures students are ready for first grade at the end of the school year.”
