Weatherford DAR member Shirley “Sam” Murphy decided it was time to make room in her home library for new additions and what better place to dispose of the books no longer needed than the Weatherford Public Library.

Murphy had utilized the books for a number of years doing family research and wanted to see the books continued to be used by others. Books donated included:

Records of Emigrants from England and Scotland to North Carolina 1774-1775;

Twenty-Four Hundred Tennessee Pensioners Revolution and War of 1812;

Kith and Kin of the Darke-Dark Clan in America 1680-1973;

Handy Book for Genealogists;

Index to Applications for Texas Confederate Pensions; and

Battlefields of the Civil War.

The books were donated on behalf of the Weatherford Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, of which Murphy is the Corresponding Secretary.
