The Parker County Republican Women will meet Thurs., Feb. 13, at the Doss Heritage and Culture Center, at 1400 Texas Dr., the corner of E. Park Ave and Texas St.
The speaker for February is Deon Starnes, the new State Republican Executive Committee member for District 30, taking over for Rena Pedan, who has retired from this position.
Starnes has been an active Republican for years, attending the state convention as a delegate since 1992. She has worked for the conservative cause by being a precinct chair, worked on various committees at the state conventions since 2006 and on various senatorial committees since 1994. She has taught government classes at high schools in Denton and at North Texas Central College. She has also enjoyed working as an election clerk, election judge and a poll watcher. She volunteers in the Get Out The Vote efforts and doing call banks for various candidates. In her own club, she has served as the president, 1st vice president of programs, secretary, finance chair and hospitality chair. Now, she is serving the district as the representative on the SREC.
