The dark night skies will provide the opportunity for a Star Party at Palo Pinto Mountains State Park this Saturday evening.
Members of Fort Worth and Dallas astronomical societies will bring telescopes to view stars and constellations, or visitors may bring their own. The event is free to the public and provides a chance to visit the park, which is not yet officially open. Overnight camping is allowed for this event, but there are no public facilities. Bring chairs, water, bug spray, etc.
The park is headquartered at Strawn, north of I-20 and about 50 miles west of Weatherford. Directions: From I-20 take exit 361, go north on Highway 16 for 4 miles, go west on FM 2372 for 2 miles, then follow the signs. For more information go to https://www.facebook.com/PaloPintoMtns.
