Southlake Club will host its annual school supply sale

The Aug. 9 sale raises money for certain CISD campuses.

The Southlake Women’s Club will host its annual school supply sale on Aug. 9.

Those interested can buy tax-free, prepackaged school supplies from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Carroll High School.

“Our one-stop-shopping offers parents the convenience of getting their child’s supplies quickly and without the hassle of dealing with the back-to-school mayhem at many retailers,” said event chair Jennifer Barry.

Prices for the packages vary based on campus, grade level and extra programs such as art or band, but range from $40 to $88.

The annual sale raises money for participating Carroll Independent School District campuses including Carroll Elementary, Johnson Elementary, Old Union Elementary, Walnut Grove Elementary, Durham Intermediate, Eubanks Intermediate, Carroll Middle School and Dawson Middle School.

In its 20 years, the sale has raised more than $300,000. The schools use the monies for curriculum enrichment.

Johnson Elementary Principal Lori Allison said that this year, her school plans to use the money to enhance its fine arts programs.

“They're very interested in the money reaching the students,” Allison said of the Women’s Club.

Those who can’t make it the day of the sale can buy the packages online from Aug. 10-17 through the Carroll ISD website. The club will deliver the packages to homes, but cannot guarantee delivery before the first day of school. Online sales are subject to sales tax and shipping and handling fees.

The club is looking for adult and teen volunteers to work shifts during the supply sale. Those interested can apply online via the club’s website.
