7-Eleven A Natural for Historical Downtown Grapevine

I was surprised and saddened to learn that some merchants and city leaders advocate eliminating the 7-Eleven on historic main street. Numerous naive business owners said the convenience store which has been a part of Texas for over 80 years conflicted with their historical image.

This company which was created in Dallas in 1927 complied with all requests to tailor the store to match historical main street. The building is a great asset for the street and serves downtown Grapevine well. Other reasons for opposition are unclear and very possibly selfish and unfounded.

Traffic congestion was cited by one city official as reason for concern, but I wonder why that issue did not surface when the city chose to aggressively promote tourism in historical Grapevine in a myriad of medias.

Let us focus on being an inclusive city in our pursuit of a better Grapevine, rather than destroying our accomplishments.
