Face of Jesus makes a big appearance in Grapevine

Fellowship Church pays homage to Jesus with 17,000-square-foot chalk drawing.

The face of Jesus looms large in Grapevine.

In preparation for Easter, the parking lot at Fellowship Church became a huge canvas for a portrait of Jesus Tuesday. People started gathering at 7 a.m. and were given chalk to begin filling in the color-by-numbers portrait, all 17,000-square-feet of it.

“Easter is about a risen king, a savior, a hope to the world,” said Chris Kee, 24, of Corinth, a member of Fellowship since 1999. “This is a display of our savior.”

The church is located on Texas 121 just north of DFW Airport, so travelers with window seats should get a great view of the portrait.
