The city was the site of mad scientists and everything gooey and yucky as families participated in the city-sponsored annual mother-son dance: “Experiments in the Laboratory of Fun.”

The laboratory — also known as the Community Activities Center — was full of bubbling beakers, exploding potions and electrifying experiments.

Moms and sons danced the robot, stretched glow-in-the-dark slime, tested gravity and feasted on fun foods at the March 1 event.

Last year’s dance was “Date Knight — A Royal Adventure.”

The evening included horseback riding, crafts, green screen photos, archery, knight school, jousting, dancing and fencing with a knight.
