PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Lexi Gordon, L.D. Bell
Sport: Girls basketball
Position: Forward
Class: Sophomore
Her story: Last year's Star-Telegram Newcomer of the Year leads all area teams with 22 points per game for Bell (16-13, 5-4), which sits three games ahead for the final playoff spot in District 7-6A. She started playing basketball in the second grade and says that she wants to leave her mark as one of the best to play at her school.
Fun fact: Her GPA is a 4.0 and both her parents played at TCU in the 1990s. She wears No. 34, like her father did while playing with the Horned Frogs.
She said: “My ultimate goal in high school is to get to states and win a state championship. I love to win, but hate losing and the feeling after my team has lost a game. I want to leave a mark on Bell athletics and the girls program. Once I've graduated and come back, I hope people are saying, 'Lexi Gordon was a great player and led her team to many achievements.'”
Coach Brock Pembleton said: “Her passion, commitment and incredible work ethic gives her the opportunity to be the best at whatever she does.”
