Authorities have released the name of the North Richland Hills city employee who was killed Friday when the dump truck he was driving crashed on a ramp leading to southbound Northeast Loop 820 in Hurst.

Adam Elkins, 42, of North Richland Hills was identified Wednesday by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

According to an obituary published in the Star-Telegram, Elkins was married and the father of four sons.

Elkins was driving the truck to a landfill when the wreck occurred at 1:50 p.m. on a ramp near Northeast Mall, police said. Witnesses told police that Elkins lost control of the truck, and it landed on its side, spilling its contents.

Traffic on the ramp was shut down until about six hours.
