A search continued Tuesday for a gunman who opened fire on a motorist driving a Jaguar down a Denton road, police said.
After he was wounded, the motorist veered off Mingo Road and crashed through a fence Monday evening, police said.
Authorities said they do not believe the shooting was a road rage incident.
“It is believed the victim and suspect had previous interactions and most likely knew each other,” police spokesman Shane Kizer said Tuesday in a news release.
The victim who suffered two gunshot wounds was taken to Medical City Denton, where he remained Tuesday. His injuries were not life threatening.
Police responded to a shooting call about 6:40 p.m. Monday at Mingo Road and Bell Avenue.
Witnesses told police the Jaguar and another vehicle were traveling west on Mingo Road when gunshots were fired.
The Jaguar crashed through the fence of an impound lot in the 500 block of Mingo Road.
The suspect fled after the shooting.
