A Euless woman is stable condition Friday after she was shot in the upper torso by a man who later was killed in a car accident, a police spokesman said.
Police found Georgeanna Rivera injured when they were called the Enclave at Bear Creek Apartments on Ash Lane about 11:12 a.m., said spokesman Scott Peterson. She had previously been in a relationship with the man accused of shooting her, John Du Pont, 53, Peterson said.
The suspect had fled the apartment by the time police arrived, he said.
A short time later, police learned that Du Pont was in an accident on Stemmons Freeway near Woodall Rogers. WFAA reported Dallas police said he had what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died, according to a news release from Peterson.
