Summit cruises against Kennedale

The Summit volleyball team made quick work of Kennedale last Tuesday evening, defeating the Lady Wildcats in three straight games on the road in Kennedale.

Summit won 3-0 with scores of 25-16, 25-22 and 25-17 to earn the victory and improve to 8-3 in the non-district season.

The Lady Jaguars played Seguin on Tuesday after the press deadline and will compete in the San Marcos Tournament starting on Thursday.

Timberview goes 4-5 at Northwest ISD Invitational

The Timberview volleyball team went 4-5 in tournament competition this past weekend at Northwest and Byron Nelson High Schools, moving to 8-12 in the non-district schedule.

The Lady Wolves defeated Keller Central, Richland, Longview and Birdville to earn their four victories in the tournament.

Timberview opened up district competition on Tuesday night with Lancaster with results coming after the press deadline and will play at 6:30 p.m. next on Sept. 2 at Seguin.

Mansfield finishes Northwest ISD Tournament with even record

The Mansfield volleyball team went 4-4 in tournament competition at the Northwest ISD Volleyball Tournament this past weekend.

Mansfield defeated Red Oak, Keller Timber Creek, Wolfforth Frenship and Legacy in the tournament.

The Lady Tigers played North Crowley on Tuesday night after the press deadline, and will compete in the San Marcos tournament starting Thursday.

Ice Hockey Association to host third annual golf tournament

The Mansfield Ice Hockey Association will host it's third annual golf tournament on Sept. 27, with registration at 7 a.m. and shotgun start at 8 a.m. at the Mansfield National Golf Club.

The golf package includes prizes for the top three times, the longest drive, straightest drive and the two closest to the pin. Mulligans are sold at $5 each, with a total of four Mulligans per person.

The cost is $400 per team or $110 per person and the entry fee is due by Sept. 12.

According to the web site, www.mansfieldhockey.org, the tournament will feature “Green and Cart fee, unlimited Range balls, course GPS, tournament services and a BBQ lunch. Tournament results summary sheet will be provided at awards ceremony. Additional tournament services include: cart assignments, local rules sheet and scoreboard maintenance.”

Participants may also take advantage of a 15 percent discount at the club's pro shop on all in-stock merchandise on the day of the tournament.
