While it may seem early in the U.S. presidential campaign to be endorsing a candidate, I want to draw your attention to Dr. Ben Carson. He is running for president as a Republican. He is a man who was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He is from a single-parent family. His education was enhanced by a mother who was relentless in her belief that her two boys should read books constantly. He turned down an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Instead he graduated from Yale University, then graduated from medical school at the University of Michigan. He became the youngest major division director at Johns Hopkins Hospital. In 1987, Dr. Carson led a medical team of 70 people to successfully separate twins conjoined at the head for the first time in history.
I believe that while he does not have political experience, he knows how to listen, relate and negotiate. When you successfully lead a team of 70 people in surgery, these skills are required. This skill is a great asset for the leader of the greatest nation on earth. He does not let the color of his skin or any of person’s skin affect his opinion. As he said recently during the debates, when he operates on a brain they are all the same color.
As a retired physician, he understood the need for health care reform but believes that what we have now has only created more problems than it solved. His solution is a free market health savings account. And he is pro-life, which is a major plus in my book!
I’m sure I don’t agree with him on everything but I haven’t found anyone in life that I completely agree with, and neither have you. We can’t continue with four more years (or eight more) of what we have had. I say we should Win with Ben!
