Mansfield athletes, coach, volunteer and team to be honored

Four athletes, a long-time coach, a basketball team and a volunteer will be inducted into the Mansfield ISD Hall of Honor next month.

The Mansfield High Lady Tigers basketball team from 1957-58, retired Mansfield High tennis coach George Averyt and volunteer Steven Giles will be honored, as well as four athletes who graduated from Mansfield High. Wayne Coble was a multi-sport athlete who graduated in 1953; Jeff Lindsey, a track/cross country standout who graduated in 2002; Alexa Devine, a multi-sport star who graduated in 1992; and Jeromey Clary, an all-state football player who graduated in 2002 and now plays for the San Diego Chargers.

The second class of athletes will be honored during a banquet at 6 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Mansfield ISD Center for the Performing Arts, 1110 W. Debbie Lane. Tickets are $40. Call 817-276-5200 or email ericwhite@misdmail.org for tickets. Deadline to order is July 31.
