Local officials dug in Friday morning to break ground on the newest expansion of Methodist Mansfield Medical Center.

The $118 million project, set to be completed in the fall of 2015, will add a 110,000-square-foot tower to the northwest corner of the hospital. The addition will include operating rooms, 54 beds with space for 64 more, cardiology and gastroenterology service and other support services.
