Mansfield utility customers, beware! Several customers have reported a scam artist trying to soak them for money.
“A man calling himself Robert Green who says he works for the City of Mansfield water department is calling customers and telling them that their water is being cut off unless they wire money to a certain account,” said Belinda Willis, the city director of communications and marketing.
But it’s not true.
“It’s a scam,” Willis said. “We would never call anyone and ask them to wire money.”
Never miss a local story.
By Tuesday, one business and several residential customers had reported getting the calls. People who are contacted by the imposter or who have questions about their water bills are asked to contact the city’s utility department at 817-276-4216. Utility payments can be made at the city’s website, www.mansfieldtexas.gov, or in person at City Hall, 1200 E. Broad St.
