Felix Wong was named the recipient of the Susan H. Campbell Award for Professional Excellence, a special category of the 2014 Texas Downtown Association (TDA) Presidents Awards Program. Since 1998, the Awards Program has recognized more than 150 projects, events and people that make a difference in Texas downtowns.

Senior earns Eagle Scout

Justin Dean Kirby, a senior at Frontier High School in Mansfield, has achieved the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America, the Eagle Scout. He completed his Eagle Scout Leadership Service Project at St. Jude Catholic Church in January. His project consisted of donating 292 pounds of food for the St Jude Food Pantry and installing four concrete benches to be used by parishioners and those waiting for the food pantry to open.

Unload grease at city site

The city of Mansfield will be accepting used cooking oil Dec. 6-13 at the Cooking Oil Drop-Off Station, inside the Dumpster enclosure located between City Hall (1200 E. Broad St.) and the Public Library. The city has joined the North Texas Grease Abatement Council, the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), the Dallas County Schools Green Bus Project and seven other area cities in hosting the North Texas Holiday Grease Roundup. During this time, participating cities will host special collections for residents to recycle their cooking oil and grease.
