Cancer support group meets

The diagnosis of cancer is a shocking, unwelcome and challenging issue. It affects not only the patient but also their family and friends. In recognition of that fact, several cancer patients and survivors have organized a new support group whose purpose is to assist those who are dealing with cancer either as a patient or as a caregiver.

They will focus on the practical issues dealing with treatment and quality of life. These challenges can range from caring for the patient to insurance, financial, transportation, and the effect on both the patient and the caregiver. The group will meet at 6 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at First United Methodist Church, 777 N. Walnut Creek Drive. This support group is open to the entire community and welcomes anyone dealing with cancer issues.
