Church begins Single & Parenting group
First Methodist Mansfield is starting a Single & Parenting Group that will offer help and hope for single parents through shared tips and parenting wisdom. Each session has three distinct elements: video teaching from counselors and professionals, small group discussion and workbook-based personal application. The group, open to the whole community, will meet from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 17 in Building C, Room 7. The cost for materials is $15. Childcare is available. First Methodist offers financial classes
First Methodist Mansfield is offering two Dave Ramsey classes that will teach participants how to make healthy decisions with their money.
Financial Peace University is a biblically-based, nine-week class that teaches practical skills that participants need to achieve their financial goals and pay off debt. Classes are being offered at 5 p.m. Sundays or 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning the week of Sept. 14. The Legacy Journey is the next step after Financial Peace. It is a seven-week class that focuses on investing and basic estate planning so that participants can leave a legacy of true generosity. Classes are being offered at 12:30 p.m. or 5 p.m. Sundays, beginning Sept. 14.

First Methodist to host Beth Moore simulcast
First Methodist Mansfield will host the Beth Moore Living Proof Live simulcast from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Sept. 13 at the church. This event will inspire and encourage women through Bible study and worship. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast available. Church plans annual festival
Countdown has begun for the 38th annual St Jude Festival. This year’s event will be held from 1-10 p.m. Sept. 20 at the church, 500 E. Dallas St. Everyone is welcome. Live music, dancing, crafts, food, games, rides, cake walk are planned. There will also be a smash the car run by the Boy Scouts, alongside a petting zoo. Free admission and free parking.
Bar Cross hosts Financial Peace
Nearly 2.5 million families have positively changed their financial future through Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University (FPU). The nine-week course provides families and individuals with practical tools to gain control of their finances and set themselves up for long-term financial success. The course meets once a week where a different lesson is taught by Dave on DVD followed by a small-group discussion. Lessons include budgeting, relationships and money, getting out of debt, saving for emergencies and investing. FPU will be held at Bar Cross Ranch Cowboy Church, 12001 FM 917. First Methodist offers DivorceCare
First Methodist Mansfield will offer DivorceCare and DC4K for children on Sundays from 10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m., beginning Oct. 5. DivorceCare is a 13-week class for those who are going through a divorce, have recently been through a divorce or need Christian support for any type of marriage separation. DivorceCare for Kids (DC4K) is offered at the same time for the participant’s children, ages 6-12, giving them a place to share their feelings and heal .
