Church begins Single & Parenting group
First Methodist Mansfield is starting a Single & Parenting Group that will offer help and hope for single parents through shared tips and parenting wisdom. Each session has three distinct elements: video teaching from counselors and professionals, small group discussion and workbook-based personal application. The group, open to the whole community, will meet from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 17 in Building C, Room 7. The cost for materials is $15. Childcare is available. MOPS begins meeting at First Baptist
Are you looking for a moms group? Do you have a child from birth through kindergarten?
MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) at First Baptist Mansfield is here for you. Take a break from your busy schedule to connect with other moms and hear encouraging words. Meetings are the second and fourthth Tuesdays of the month from 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Join us for our first meeting at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 9 at First Baptist Mansfield’s Fireside Room, 1800 E. Broad St. The first meeting is free.
If you decide to join after your first meeting (and we hope you will), the cost is $44.

First Methodist offers financial classes
First Methodist Mansfield is offering two Dave Ramsey classes that will teach participants how to make healthy decisions with their money.
Financial Peace University is a biblically-based, nine-week class that teaches practical skills that participants need to achieve their financial goals and pay off debt. Classes are being offered at 5 p.m. Sundays or 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning the week of Sept. 14.
The Legacy Journey is the next step after Financial Peace. It is a seven-week class that focuses on investing and basic estate planning so that participants can leave a legacy of true generosity. Classes are being offered at 12:30 p.m. or 5 p.m. Sundays, beginning Sept. 14.

First Methodist to host Beth Moore simulcast
First Methodist Mansfield will host the Beth Moore Living Proof Live simulcast from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Sept. 13 at the church. This event will inspire and encourage women through Bible study and worship. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast available. Church plans annual festival
St. Jude’s 38th annual festival will be held on the church grounds from 1-10 p.m. Sept. 20. Great ethnic, rides, bounce houses, petting zoo and many games will be on the festival grounds. Boy Scouts will be back with a surprise game for all to play. Joan Heath and her cake walk will be seeking homemade desserts.

DJ Travis Stewart will be rolling out the tunes during the afternoon time. Evening hours will have live entertainment by Los Audases, with great tunes and dancing, celebrating Mexican Independence Day.

Bar Cross hosts Financial Peace
Nearly 2.5 million families have positively changed their financial future through Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University (FPU). The nine-week course provides families and individuals with practical tools to gain control of their finances and set themselves up for long-term financial success. The course meets once a week where a different lesson is taught by Dave on DVD followed by a small-group discussion. Lessons include budgeting, relationships and money, getting out of debt, saving for emergencies and investing. FPU will be held at Bar Cross Ranch Cowboy Church, 12001 FM 917. Trinity Presbyterian Preschool enrolling students
Trinity Presbyterian Preschool begins the 2014-2015 school year Sept. 2. The preschool is at 1200 Clover Hill Road and currently enrolling for the fall with limited spots available in the 2-year-old, 3-year-old and pre-kindergarten classes. A new Women’s Celebrate Recovery Step Study is now meeting at First Methodist Mansfield from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays. A key ingredient to Celebrate Recovery, these gender-specific Step Studies utilize the 12 steps and eight principles based on the teachings of Jesus in the Beatitudes, helping participants deal with their own hurts, habits and hang-ups.
