Local church adopts fire stations
Walnut Ridge Baptist Church recently launched an innovative program designed to foster a closer connection between the community and firefighters/paramedics of Mansfield Fire Rescue. The Adopt-A-Station program encourages a sense of community involvement and recognizes the importance of public service and servants to the citizens.
Through the program, a WRBC Adult Bible Fellowship class will team up with crew members at each of Mansfield’s four fire stations, adopting them for one year. Class members are encouraged to regularly meet and keep contact with the crew at their particular station, and plan frequent activities, such as cooperative meals, station tours, fire safety training, etc.
In early March, WRBC’s Faithbuilders class visited their adopted station – Station 3 – for the first time, where they served the crew dinner, took an informative tour of the facilities and fire apparatus, and received useful CPR training.
