Volunteer sign up goes online

The Northwest school district’s new Volunteers in Public Schools system is now accessible on the district’s web site. The system has been available since mid-July. The volunteer system, called VIPS, is designed to be an easy way for volunteers to prepare to help out at the district’s campuses. Volunteers can complete their background check forms and submit complete volunteer profiles. They can also update their contact information and other information. For more information, call Phil Beckman, Northwest Partners in Education specialist at 817-215-0172.

New student registration

Returning student online registration is now available for current Northwest school district students beginning. Registration began in mid-July. Parents of students currently enrolled in the district must have a Home Access Center account to complete the online enrollment. Access to the HAC requires an internet connection and a confidential username and password issued to the parent by the school. An Enrollment Online help desk is available at the district’s Administration Building, 2001 Texan Drive, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. week days. For more information, call 817-698-1099.

Back to School Fair next week

The countdown to fall has begun. To get ready for that first day back, the Northwest school district is partnering with Communities in Schools of North Texas to host the second annual Back to School Fair on Aug. 9. The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon at Northwest High School, 2301 Texan Drive. This year’s fair will provide school supplies and assistance to families who need extra support based on their financial need (verified by their registration for free or reduced lunch).
