Keller’s Public Art Show will return in July with Southlake artist Lamberto Alvarez’s paintings of the Texas Rangers baseball team and other Texas legends.
The show runs July 7 through July 30 at Keller Town Hall.
“Moments at the Ballpark and Texas Legends” features mostly canvas artwork of players such as Yu Darvish, Adrian Beltre, Elvis Andrus, manager Ron Washington and more.
The Texas Legends series includes Barbara Bush, Willie Nelson, Billy Bob Thornton and Billy Joe Shaver.
Alvarez started the paintings in 2010 out of his respect for the team’s camaraderie and his wife’s childhood love of baseball, according to a press release. Alvarez said he noticed and wanted to capture the supportive, “feel good” spirit of the team and credits much of it to Washington.
“Mr. Washington created a team atmosphere that went beyond bunts and runs,” he said. “He really focused on the idea of having a good spirit and really positive attitudes, regardless of where the game stood. The magic was created psychologically and within the team.”
Alvarez met Washington in 2012 and the two decided the showcase could also benefit organizations such as the Miracle League of Southlake and the Peace Officers Angels Foundation.
Alvarez will tour throughout the state after the Keller exhibit. For more information, contact representative Doreen Chanay at email@example.com, or visit the Keller city website.
