Neuse named to Freshman All-America Team
Fossil Ridge graduate Sheldon Neuse was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America Team by Collegiate Baseball News. Neuse was a member of the Fossil Ridge baseball and football teams and graduated in 2013.
Neuse, the starting third baseman at the University of Oklahoma, was the only Sooner to start all 58 games. He hit .304 and was also named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year and was a unanimous selection to the All-Big 12 First Team.
Neuse led the Sooners with 47 RBI and a .521 slugging percentage on 17 doubles, seven triples and seven home runs.
Keller Jets collect Three-peat
The Keller Jets, a U10 soccer team, picked up their third consecutive Keller Youth Association championship.
The Jets players include Nate Fout, Colton Blythe, Vinnay Menon, Benett Cooper, Sean Sanders, Jack Knowles, Aiden Hernandez, Ryan Patullo, Matthew Estrada, Ashwin Menon, Eli Jordan, Jiwan Azade and Parker McElwee.
The team is coached by Robert Broom.
Roanoke summer camps include soccer and more
The Roanoke Parks and Recreation Department still has plenty of youth sports camps available for the summer. Camps include British soccer camp, dodgeball, basketball, cheerleading and swimming lessons.

Men’s softball league still open for registration
A men’s summer softball league sponsored through the Keller Pointe, is still taking registrations. The league is a competitive division for teams of age 16 and above and is USSSA sanctioned.
Teams will be required to play with softballs provided by the Keller Pointe. Game time for the league games will begin at 7 p.m. with the last games starting at 9:45 pm. The season runs from July 11-Oct. 3. Registration fee is $410 per team.

Latina Golfers Association hosting golf clinic
The Latina Golfers Association is hosting a women’s beginner golf clinic to be held June 21 in Dallas.
As part of the LGA’s summer Texas Tour, the clinic is open to women and girls and will teach proper stance, grip and swing. Another aspect of the clinic is to teach women how to use golf as a business tool. A complimentary glass of wine is provided following the clinic. Start time is 4 p.m. at the Keeton Park Course, 2323 N. Jim Miller Road, Dallas.
Clinic cost is $40 per person, $35 for LGA subscribers or members of the Irving Hispanic Chamber, Las Comadres Para Las Americas and the Hispanic Network of Texas.
