The Cross Timbers Cyclefest, a bike-riding event which went through Trophy Club, Roanoke and other Northeast Tarrant County cities, has moved strictly to Texas Motor Speedway this year, event coordinator Peggy Peterson said.

The race kicks off May 17 and features a 2.5-mile circuit race held on the big NASCAR oval and the infield course at the speedway, according to the press release.

Races include an open rally ride, categories based on age, a women’s open and a junior open. The first event starts at 7:30 a.m.

Peterson said she and other organizers had gotten comments from riders about how bad roads were because of construction last year, leading organizers to move the event to one, safer area.

“It’s all at Texas Motor Speedway on a surface with no seams or cracks,” she said. “All riders will have the opportunity to ride on racing quality surface with no way to spill or dump.”

Pre-registration is $40 per event, $50 on site. Rally ride is $20 and $10 for ages 12 and younger. Visit until May 15 for preregistration and for more information.
