KISD pleased with preliminary STAAR test results

Keller district officials are pleased with improvements in math scores for eighth grade students in preliminary results for the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness tests (STAAR).

Officials noted a 5 percent increase in passing rates for eighth graders, from 81 percent last year to 86 percent this year. Fifth grade math scores rose slightly from 84 percent in 2013 to 85 percent.

Reading scores for fifth graders declined slightly, from 88 percent last year to 86 percent this year while eighth grade reading scores held steady.
