The Fossil Ridge girls basketball team missed the opportunity to boost their record past the current 3-9 when the Burleson game was canceled last week, but Richland still awaits the Lady Panthers as district play begins this week.
With an additional day of classes canceled on Monday, whether Fossil Ridge was playing the Lady Rebels on Tuesday was still undetermined at the press deadline. Northwest awaits the Lady Panthers on Friday, with Fossil Ridge hosting Keller next Tuesday.
Ridge will continue to look to Sterling Wilmer to help lead the team to push for an upper-division finish in the district. Madison Crawford and Jordan Lake also have been key scorers for the Lady Panthers.
The Lady Indians were to play Northwest on Tuesday, then the matchup with Central on Friday.
Ashley Yarbrough continues to lead the Lady Chargers in scoring and has been the on-court leader for Central (see related story). They will host Keller after the Carroll game and play Timber Creek next Tuesday in hopes of turning their season around.
Although they recently lost to Byron Nelson, 42-27, the Lady Falcons were poised to host Haltom to launch the new season. They’ll also host Carroll on Friday before traveling to Central on Tuesday.
In the Nelson game, Raven Rogers scored 9 for the Lady Falcons and Laniya Taylor scored 8.
