Registration for the Keller ISD Strings Academy will take place between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sept. 12 at the KISD Education Center, 350 Keller Pkwy. A make-up session is set for 4:30 p.m. Sept. 14. Instruction is available for students in grades 2 through 12: beginning violin: grades 2-4; beginning orchestra: 5-6; intermediate and advanced orchestra: 5-12. New principal for Park Glen
Trustees recently approved Craig Weston as the new principal at Park Glen Elementary School. Weston has 11 years of teaching experience and five years of experience as an assistant principal, four years at Hillwood Middle School and one year at Timberview Middle School. He has a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Texas in Austin and a .aster’s in Educational Administration from Lamar University. Weston replaces Leslee Shepherd, who has been named the principal of the career and technical education campus set to open next fall.
Keller schools and district offices will be closed Sept. 7 for the Labor Day holiday.

Day Off Approaches
Northwest students, faculty and staff have the day off Sept. 7 for Labor Day. Classes resume Sept. 8.
Technology Leaders Named
Cara Carter was recently named the Northwest school district's director of instructional technology. She has been with the district for 12 years, serving as an instructional technology coordinator, instructional technologist and classroom teacher at Prairie View and Kay Granger elementary schools. Ashley Chapman is replacing Carter as coordinator of instructional technology. Chapman previously worked at Northwest's Tidwell Middle School, where she was named Exemplar Educator in 2011.
Premiering with Pep
Roy Eaton, son of the school’s namesake, and his wife Jeannine helped open the new V.R. Eaton High School with a first day pep rally. Eaton served as a member on the first Northwest school board and assisted in the district’s consolidation. As the owner of Chisholm Trail Ranch near Rhome, Eaton was an advocate for the vocational agricultural program. The campus features device charging stations and furniture that can be easily moved to accommodate students' work.
