Day Off Approaches
Northwest students, faculty and staff have the day off Sept. 7 for Labor Day. Classes resume Sept. 8.
Technology Leaders Named
Cara Carter was recently named the Northwest school district's director of instructional technology. She has been with the district for 12 years, serving as an instructional technology coordinator, instructional technologist and classroom teacher at Prairie View and Kay Granger elementary schools. Ashley Chapman is replacing Carter as coordinator of instructional technology. Chapman previously worked at Northwest's Tidwell Middle School, where she was named Exemplar Educator in 2011.
Premiering with Pep
Roy Eaton, son of the school’s namesake, and his wife Jeannine helped open the new V.R. Eaton High School with a first day pep rally. Eaton served as a member on the first Northwest school board and assisted in the district’s consolidation. As the owner of Chisholm Trail Ranch near Rhome, Eaton was an advocate for the vocational agricultural program. The campus features device charging stations and furniture that can be easily moved to accommodate students' work.
