The Northern Tarrant County/Keller Relay for Life benefiting the American Cancer Society is set for May 2 at the Keller ISD Athletics Complex.
The event’s theme, “Over the Decades,” celebrates the 30th year of the Relay for Life. The relay is not a race but, since cancer never sleeps, teams are asked to have at least one member on the track throughout the eight hour.
Cheryl Parten, event organizer and Timberview Middle School teacher, said there will be food, entertainment and games for all participants. Teams can be as small as two people or more than 30.
The day starts with a ceremony to honor survivors. They walk the first half lap alone and then are joined by their caregivers. After dark, the track will be lined with luminarias in honor of those fighting and in memory of those who died of cancer.
Never miss a local story.
“We still have room for teams, or you can just come out and join the festivities,” Parten said.
To participate, make a donation, purchase a luminaria or learn more, visit relay.acsevents.org and enter Keller, TX, as the site.
The Keller Relay for Life will be from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. May 2 at the Keller ISD Athletic Complex, 500 N. Pate Orr Rd.
