The city’s newest park, featuring 14 acres that have been restored to their original blackland prairie state, will open Saturday in north Fort Worth.
Bluestem Park at Alliance Town Center, west of Interstate 35W and Amador Drive, was developed by Hillwood, a Perot company.
Special grand opening activities will be 3-7 p.m. at the park and will include guest speakers Patrick Newman, executive director of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, and Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price.
There will be a concert featuring Southern Chrome, a scavenger hunt and more.
The park features 50 species of native plants; hundreds of native trees and shrubs; walking and biking trails; children’s play areas; and a public venue for outdoor learning.
