World Class Championship Wrestling was a regional professional wrestling promotion operated by Fritz Von Erich from 1982 to 1986.
The current Special Collections exhibit — “Ringside: Memories of World Class Championship Wrestling” — features 34 photographs taken by Cirrus Bonneau of WCCW matches at Will Rogers Coliseum in 1982-83.
Bonneau, a Fort Worth documentary photographer, vividly captures the energy and interaction between the all-American Von Erich brothers, their entourage, villainous opponents and boisterous fans.
This photograph of Andre the Giant surrounded by energetic and engaged fans demonstrates the genius of Bonneau's work. Relive your ringside memories of WCCW wrestling at UTA Libraries through mid-January.
The University of Texas at Arlington Libraries offer a rich and diverse collection of materials on the history of Texas and the Southwest. Each week, readers get a glimpse of the past with an image from Special Collections. 817-272-3393; library.uta.edu/special-
