Interstate 35W in north Fort Worth closed this weekend

Both northbound and southbound lanes at U.S. 287 will be closed for ramp demolition.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid Interstate 35W in far north Fort Worth all weekend because northbound and southbound lanes of will be closed at U.S. 287, the Decatur cutoff, for ramp demolition.

The closure, which started Friday night, is expected to end at 6 a.m. Monday, according to a City of Fort Worth news release.

Weather permitting, workers will demolish the present ramp from I-35W to U.S. 287/81 northbound.

A new ramp will be accessible during the detour, the release said.

Southbound motorists will be detoured to U.S. 81/287 northbound to Harmon Road and then to U.S. 81/287 southbound back to I-35W southbound.

Northbound motorists will be detoured to the frontage road at Basswood Boulevard and back on to the main lanes.

Police officers will be present to direct traffic.

Access to U.S. 81/287 northbound will be maintained during the closure from the northbound frontage road detour.
