Brother of corpse abuse suspect distances himself from case

WFAA.com report: The twin brother of the man accused of abusing corpses at Johnson Family Mortuary lost his funeral director’s license and was ordered to pay $75,000, state records show.

A sign outside the now-closed Johnson Family Mortuary advertises the “twins” special service.

Twin brothers Dondre and Derrick Johnson have a history of handling burials together, but according to Derrick, he has been out of the business since long before eight decomposing bodies were discovered at the mortuary on July 15.

Indeed, he should have been out of the business. The Texas Funeral Service Commission cited Derrick Johnson for multiple code violations and in 2010 he was ordered to pay $75,000 in penalties, attorneys’ fees and court costs. Story at WFAA.com.
