A boy who was burned Monday evening at his Fort Worth home was taken by ambulance to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, authorities said.
The call came about 6 p.m. from the 5800 block of Asbury Avenue, according to Fort Worth Fire Department records.
The boy, believed to be about 10, was with other children who were playing with a lighter, said Battalion Chief Richard Harrison, a Fire Department spokesman.
“They were setting papers on fire, and he set his shirt on fire,” Harrison said. “He had second-degree burns to the chin and torso.”

The boy’s condition was unavailable late Monday.
Harrison said, “All of the kids involved in this will be eligible for the Juvenile Fire Setter Program,” which counsels children on the dangers of fire.
First, the children must be referred to the program by a Fire Department investigator, Harrison said.
