A woman was killed Thursday morning when she was hit by a vehicle as she crossed Interstate 35W in south Fort Worth.
Erika Armstrong, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office reported. The driver of the vehicle that hit the woman stopped at the scene, police said.
Armstrong was hit about 5 a.m. in the 4800 block of the South Freeway, or I-35W, near Seminary Drive.
Vehicles swerved to avoid the accident scene, and an 18-wheeler and a white car collided. No major injuries were reported in that wreck, police said.
Police closed the northbound lanes of the freeway for more than three hours as officers investigated.
