Brewer High senior killed crossing Loop 820 in northwest Fort Worth

William Brawley, 18, of Fort Worth was crossing Northwest Loop 820 on foot Tuesday morning when he was fatally struck by a vehicle, authorities said.

A Brewer High School student was killed Tuesday morning when he was hit by a vehicle as he and two companions attempted to cross Northwest Loop 820 on foot, authorities said.

William Brawley, 18, of Fort Worth was pronounced dead at 7:04 a.m. Tuesday at a Fort Worth hospital, the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website reported.

His companions were not injured, Matt Zavadsky, a MedStar spokesman, said.

The driver stopped and was treated at the scene, Zavadsky and police said.

The death occurred shortly before 6:30 a.m. on Northwest Loop 820 at Las Vegas Trail on the southbound side. Police continued to investigate on Tuesday.

Brawley was a senior at the high school in the White Settlement district, a school official said Tuesday.

Tuesday was the last day of the Christmas holiday. Classes resume on Wednesday. Counselors will be available for students, a school district spokeswoman said.
