Police are awaiting autopsy results to determine whether exposure to the cold caused the death of a 91-year-old man whose body was found near his SUV in south Fort Worth early Monday.
Therman Harris, who had dementia, was reported missing Saturday. The last reported sighting of him was about noon Thursday, according to the missing person report. That was a few hours before the ice storm moved into North Texas.
About 3:30 a.m. Monday, Harris’ Cadillac Escalade was found in a roadside ditch in the 9400 block of Rendon Road, police Sgt. Cheryl Johnson said Monday.
The body was about 20 feet south of the vehicle next to an old oak tree, Johnson said.
The site is about 15 miles from Harris’ home in the 1600 block of Avenue E in Fort Worth.
