A felony charge was pending Tuesday against a man who led police officers on a car chase from Haltom City to Grand Prairie.
Martin Castro Avila, 32, was arrested early Tuesday morning after police used spike strips to flatten his vehicle’s tires on Interstate 30, Haltom City Cpl. Ray Beshirs said.
An officer had tried to stop Avila at 1900 Layton Ave. in Haltom City on suspicion of driving while intoxicated around 12:30 a.m. Avila sped away and refused to stop, Beshirs said.
As it turned out, Avila was not drunk. Instead, Beshirs said he fled because he had a suspended license. Avila is expected to be charged with fleeing in a vehicle.

Avila’s bail was set at $25,000, Beshirs said. He remained at the North Richland Hills jail Tuesday.
Avila has a long history of prior offenses, including multiple drug possessions and thefts, fleeing an officer and evading arrest, according to Tarrant County records.
