A carjacking suspect with an extensive criminal history was being sought in the DFW Metroplex on Monday night, police said.
Fidel Martinez, 36, who is wanted on a parole violation for auto theft and for evading and resisting arrest, led Fort Worth police on a chase starting about 4 p.m. that ended in Haltom City, said Sgt. Steve Enright, a Fort Worth police spokesman.
The chase ended in Dillion Circle close to Haltom High School when the driver ditched his vehicle, fled on foot and stole a woman’s minivan, said Detective Ray Beshirs, a Haltom City police spokesman.
A passenger who was with Martinez during the initial chase also tried to run away but was caught, police said. The passenger was arrested.

The owner of the silver 2007 Honda Odyssey with Texas plates CPG-5371 was not injured, Beshirs said.
Officers did not see any weapons on Martinez, police said.
Fort Worth and Haltom City police are working together to find Martinez and the Odyssey.
