A 35-year-old homeless man was in jail Monday, accused in the killing of another homeless man whose body was found Saturday.
William Farmer was arrested Sunday on a murder warrant. He was being held in the Mansfield Jail on Monday with bail set at $100,000.
Patrol officers were called to the 400 block of Beach Street, at a homeless camp northwest of Gateway Park, on Saturday afternoon in reference to a deceased person. Officers found the man’s body in a wooded area, according to homicide Sgt. Joe Loughman.
The victim had not been positively identified Monday night.

Investigators believe that an argument between the victim and suspect prompted the slaying at the homeless camp, Loughman said.
“The suspect struck the victim, with an unknown object, in the head area numerous times until the victim was deceased,” Loughman said.
